After working with these questionnaires, we will meet with you and your fiancé as many times as needed until we have created the most spectacular wedding day which include both of your family’s traditions and your special details. How much does the average wedding dj cost?
The average dj price for a standard wedding reception cost are based on either, how much the djs charge per hour or a standard set rate for weddings. Also, take into account, that dj’s are broken down into roughly 3 levels in Houston.
- The Weekend Warriors – Craigslist DJs, Bar, Club, Hobbyist and part time dj’s. Most are exceptional in their own specific genres. However, very few are experienced in wedding formats, overall musical knowledge or experience as a Master of Ceremonies. Some have a minor web presence. If you are looking for just a standard dj with your favorite music from the local bar and a small wedding with friends and little to no announcements, these experts are very economical. Many dj’s charge by the hour. Average cost: $250 to $500 for 4 to 6 hours.
- Small Business Owners – Fulltime and experienced at many types of weddings and events. These companies offer great services at reasonable prices. Many are insured and offer professional timelines and music databases to assist the brides in creating their dream weddings. Most have between 1 and 5 Professional Master of Ceremonies/DJs on staff. They are reliable and can be found online, as well as reviews about their services and expertise. Average cost $600 to $1100 for 4 to 5 hours.
- Large DJ Companies – Reliable and experienced management teams for middle to large sized local companies as well as large nationwide companies. Most are insured and have between 5 and 20 dj’s on staff. The expertise of the djs in their companies vary, normally hiring the upper management is an additional cost. As always, to understand if they are right for you, read the newest reviews and see who their super stars are. They offer exception tools and music for weddings and private events. Many have a high overhead business cost, such as office space, dj equipment, wedding advertising and web presence cost. This cost naturally must be passed on to their clients and it will raise the price substantially. Average cost $1000 to $1500 for 4 hours.
In the end, the old adage of “you get what you pay for” is very relevant. This is only a very basic way of explaining the Houston DJ community. There are many other factors that can effect the price of your dj, such as:
- Packages – many djs have different packages that deal with free additional time, photo booths or ambiente lighting. Ask what the standard dj package includes. Does the dance floor lighting come included and do they offer a cordless microphone for the toast? Some dj’s charge extra for a portable dj booth called a facade. Never assume and verify the price of the contract.
- Off Season – Houston has two off seasons, and you can receive anywhere from $50 to $100 off for the months of January thru March and the hot months from July thru September.
- Distance – many djs also charge for events in the adjacent counties around Harris County. Make sure that you ask about travel and set up fees prior to signing your contract.
- Reserve Time – The farther out from your wedding date will offer you a better price. Many brides and grooms do not realize that the dates are normally taken 6 months to a year in advance. The closer you get to your wedding date will not guarantee a great dj or price. Do not leave it for last.
- Venue Discounts – Many of the Greater Houston venues have inhouse vendors on their preferred vendors list. Ask them if they offer a discounted price or are they a part of a package at the venue.
Finally, no matter what the cost of your wedding or event, you should make sure that your dj is at the least experienced in weddings, comfortable making announcements and following your timeline. Do not trust your special day to an amateur dj.

- Platinum - $1500 (DJ, Photo Booth, 12 Uplights, Monogram or Projector with Screen).
Friday, Saturday morning/afternoon, and Sunday weddings will receive an additional $200 OFF the above prices.
Houston has 2 off seasons. January, February and March in the winter and during the hot months of July, August and September. If you are having an event during these time frames, then take advantage of our $500 DJ Package. If you need to add an hour for the Ceremony, we will drop the Ceremony price to $100. Video Jockey Shows
Our Video Jockey Packages start from $750 if you provide the audio-visual components and $1250 to $1500 for 5 hours if we provide a 20ft x 13ft Screen and Projector for you. Each additional screen will cost $750. This is a great package for large events, clubs, and corporate events.
Friday, Saturday morning/afternoon, and Sunday weddings will receive an additional $200 OFF the above prices.
A Little About Us
Access DJ's was formed in 2006 in Houston. We are an entertainment company that has a great time bringing good clean music fun to our clients. All of the music is radio edited and for some of our music, we have to go beyond the radio edits. We do our own special remixes to clear certain words that are considered proper on the radio but not at all family gatherings or corporate events.

Our company was created with the desire to provide a dj company that can go into places of worship, corporations and celebrations with the same values that we have. Not to long ago, music didn't have vulgar words or explicit themes. We are trying to provide that same type of ambientes of those times.
Does this mean that Access DJ's is different than other dj's and other dj companies? Unless you are paying close attention, you would never know the difference. The company plays the same radio top 40 just like everyone else. But we will not play sexually explicit or vulgar music. We do not even carry it in our databases. However, because we are part of a national database, you will see these songs in there.
So if your grandmother, mother, church family, boss, hr manager, little kids or Pastor are going to be at the event, you will not have to worry about something bad or embarrassing suddenly playing. You can definitely trust Access DJ's to be your entertainers.

Two days ago we had our wedding reception at the Magnolia Ballroom. In the months, weeks, and days leading up to the event he was extremely responsive via phone and was extremely helpful. By the time my wife and I arrived, he was waiting curbside for us to get our door and let us know how the entrance into the event would go. He even had drinks waiting for us if we wanted them. We gave him a playlist before hand of songs we think would be good, but he stepped us up even one more as made the dance floor more natural by picking the right songs for the moment.
